No 12-13 week school in cooking will teach you anything but very low level home economics cooking. Do not spend your money on anything less than a 5-6 month course with a very good required internship.....

SCHOOLS WELCOME TO LIST

UNDER THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA

No school less than 6 months in duration without a structured curriculum and not having an intern program is worth 10 cents.

1. Schools will not limit the liability of the school for careless or reckless acts of students, staff or visitors or equipment.

2. The school will have a written course material with an index and table of contents. This means they have a course lesson plan written in advance for each day of class, not a bunch of handouts.

3. The school will have adequate work space for all students.

4. The school will have at least one on duty instructor for each area of food preparation and every student will be allowed hands on instruction of every step practical application. In other words, a food preparation, practical application or technique to be learned and will not be an endeavor where 6 students watch one student perform the task without allowing all of the students the opportunity to perform the same task. Each work area and instructor will not exceed 6 students.

5. The students will have the ability to cancel the class with a full refund if the following events take place:

An instructor makes sexual advances to any student.

Any instructor excludes any student from a meaningful hands on experience in the preparation a daily menu item of the course.

Any instructor at any time uses obscene or vulgar language.

Any instructor allows one or more student to continually interrupt or have an undue influence over the class by means including but not limited to fraternization. A structured class should stay on track.

The class room will have adequate ventilation, accoustics, and visibility to allow for a comfortable learning experience.

The class will have diploma certification of the Culinary Profession.

An industry standard curriculum will be offered and be State regulated.

Food, snacks and breaks will be readily available for the convenience of the students.

Students will not be expected to be accomplished chefs and will be treated professionally and with respect at all times.

No student will be chastised for making a mistake in the process of leaning.

Material taught by example, text, handout or recommended reading will be consistant, without conflicting test questions and any differences of professional opionion will be dealt with in the spirit of a culinary arts course, not a dogmatic science.

Safety and sanitation will have priority over all food preparation.

The schools will not tolerate the use of drugs by instructors or students and never allow immoral conduct.

* Qualified students must apply to AcesMotel Management, be a currently enrolled Culinary Student in Colorado in a participating Colorado Culinary School, be a guest at Acesmotel, and not earn or have access to funds exceeding $10,000 per year from all sources.
